Southern Baptist Sissies presented by Theatre Out Denver at the Crossroads Theater at 2590 Washington at Welton in Historic Five Points is a benefit performance for Element Denver. This very powerful play, written by Del Shores (the author of "Sordid Lives") is about four young gay men who struggle to come out in the middle of a very conservative and religious community. We can all imagine much of the hatred, discrimination, ignorance and self-doubt these young men face in their journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Though the play deals with some very serious and dangerous social issues that many of us have faced in our coming out process it manages to do so in a way that makes us laugh as much as we cry as we walk with these brave young men and their community to a journey well worth taking.
