TCL Premiere of Senior Moments, 5 Funny, Slightly Naughty Plays For and About Seniors The Theater Company of Lafayette (TCL) will present The Silver Circuit’s world premiere production of Senior Moments, January 8 – 10. Senior Moments consists of five very funny, touching, and slightly naughty plays for and about seniors. The plays were commissioned by The Silver Circuit from award-winning local playwright Don Fried, who also directs the production. In doing research for the plays, Fried interviewed residents of retirement homes in Colorado and California. The first public reading of Senior Moments was at Golden West in Boulder. “The response was overwhelming,” says Fried. “A lot of the audience stayed for half an hour after the reading to talk about the plays.” “The Code,” which is the first play in Senior Moments, won first prize at the 2009 Front Range Playwrights’ Showcase at Coal Creek Community Theater in Louisville. “It’s a 10 minute gem” wrote Boulder Camera Theater Critic Mark Collins about “The Code.” “The comedy is funny, surprising, and deals with senior sexuality.” Says Fried, “It’s clear that the themes resonated with them. Nothing was taboo. Most importantly, though, seniors love to laugh at themselves.” Featured in Senior Moments are popular professional actors Timothy Englert and Ellen Ranson. Tim and Ellen perform as The Silver Circuit at retirement homes, assisted living facilities and senior centers up and down Colorado’s Front Range. Shows will be Friday, January 8 and Saturday, January 9 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, January 10 at 2 p.m. The plays run a little more than an hour.
